Michael is an experienced leader of business service organisations in the commercial sector and the NHS. He has a track record in strategy development, service management and business turnaround. At SCW, he champions our customer-centric approach, driving higher quality and standardised operations, strongly investing in our consultative offer.

David Tappin 
Executive Director of Transformation 

David is an expert in transforming complex health and care systems. After working for more than 10 years as a Director of Acute Provider Trusts, he profoundly understands the challenges our customers face. He has led system-wide service change and has a key focus on supporting the development of Sustainability and Transformation Plans – leading SCW’s work with national Vanguards on logic development and evaluations.

Rod How 
Executive Director of Finance

Rod has extensive financial leadership experience in the NHS and a strong commercial focus. He ensures SCW remains financially robust by maintaining a focus on service delivery, efficiency and financial control. His experience working in senior finance roles for mental health services, mixed community provider trusts and health authorities offers our customers both expert financial leadership advice and value for money when commissioning services.

Janet Horton 
Executive Director of Customer Development

Janet's expertise lies in strategy development and business growth and she has worked in the NHS, local government, the civil service and at large commercial organisations. She oversees the development of SCW’s business and reputation, developing relationships with senior stakeholders across the industry and ensuring our services respond to customer requirements and changes in the marketplace.

Jo Newton SMALL

Jo Newton 
Executive Director of Business Services 

Jo has worked extensively across the NHS on commissioning and provider boards, overseeing strategic and transformational change across the health and local government sector. Her early professional career was in pharmaceutical marketing and operations, while her recent portfolio work has combined chair roles and running her own consultancy. Jo provides strategic leadership to the services we provide to customers and SCW, covering provider management, financial services, information technology, business intelligence, human resources and organisational development, communications and engagement, governance, and procurement.

“We have a key role in improving patient experience through aligning business services with our customer delivery focus and I am excited by the prospect of harnessing the skill base of our people in achieving that goal.”
