There is a lot uncertainty about how Primary Care Networks will be established. We have had numerous questions from the clients we support about all aspects of forming a Primary Care Network.

Should our network have a lead practice, become a standalone legal entity network, work under our GP federation, the local hospital trust or another entity that is suitable for holding a Network Contract?

The employment of staff is also a firm focus, particularly with the new roles coming in to General Practice over the next 3 years, including, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers (both in 2019/20), Advanced Practice Physiotherapists and Physician Associates (both 2020/21) and Advanced Paramedic Practitioners (2021/22). At the same time, we had many asking about how they qualify the network for the NHS Pension Scheme, whether there are VAT implications, CQC registration, subcontracting population health, integrated working and much more.
