SCW is delighted to announce that its entry for ‘Development, delivery, and support of multiple major integrated care record and interoperability programmes’ has been shortlisted for IT and Digital Innovation Award at the HSJ Value Awards 2020, recognising their outstanding dedication to making things better in the NHS.
The judging panel comprised a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from hundreds of brilliant applicants, is a mark of real achievement for SCW. The digital teams who have supported development, delivery, and support of multiple major integrated care record and interoperability programmes have been selected based on their diligence, ambition and the positive impact that the projects have had within their wider organisation.
SCW has a long and successful track record of leading the development of digital technologies in the NHS which can be traced back to 2003 with the creation of a Clinical Data Repository (CDR). This later became known as the Hampshire Health Record (HHR) before being re-named Care and Health Information Exchange (CHIE) in 2017.
Over the last 16 years CHIE, Connecting Care, Joining Up Your Information (JUYI) plus other projects such as the Oxford Care Summary have developed incrementally to meet the developing needs of the health and care system by:
• increasing the coverage of numbers of patients
• making it easier for clinical staff to access the data they need securely
• increasing the depth and complexity of the data held, giving a more complete clinical history for each patient
• including social care in the ability to access health data and share social care data
• innovations which assist with particular care pathways.
The three programmes cited in this bid involve sharing data between many types of organisations, including 340 GP Practices, 11 Acute Trusts, 8 Community and Mental Health Trusts, 7 Local Authorities, 5 Hospices, 4 Out of Hours services, 2 Ambulance Trusts, 1 Care Home, 1 Prison and 21 separate IT systems and suppliers.
Andy Kinnear, Director of Digital Transformation at SCW comments, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the IT and Digital Innovation Award recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our team/s to successfully develop, deliver, and support multiple major integrated care record and interoperability programmes. We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for patients and the wider organisation, and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement. This nomination has been a tremendous boost to both to our team and our organisation, SCW. I am sure it will bolster our continued efforts to improve”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan comments: “We would like to congratulate SCW on being nominated in the category of IT and Digital Innovation Award ahead of HSJ Value Awards 2020. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the ceremony in May, to join us in recognising the very best NHS teams and projects in the healthcare sector. This year’s finalists are of an outstanding calibre and all of them are exceptionally dedicated to enhancing healthcare across the UK.”
The winners will be selected following a rigorous, “live panel” judging stage ahead of the HSJ Value Awards 2020 awards ceremony. Held at Manchester Central on 21 May 2020, the evening will provide a great opportunity for influential figures to unite and celebrate the achievements of their industry peers. The awards evening is expected to be attended by leaders and professionals from within the NHS. This year’s chosen charity partner is MediCinema a charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing of patients, their families and carers across the UK through the magic of the shared cinema experience.
