The Digital Health Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of leaders making the biggest contributions to UK healthcare IT, and are the only peer-voted healthcare IT awards.
Andy was nominated for the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Profession' award alongside former NHS Digital Chief Nurse, Anne Cooper and Iain Buchan, Director of Healthcare Research at Microsoft. He received the most votes for his role in the professionalisation of healthcare informatics.
Speaking at the award ceremony on 19th July, Andy said: “I am humbled, proud and grateful to be recognised by my peers in this way. Anne and Iain are two of my heroes so to even be considered in their company was honour enough."
"I am so grateful to Fran Draper and my Connecting Care team for the nomination and for all of their work, I feel privileged to walk on the shoulders of such giants. This award was voted by my peers, the NHS CIOS, CCIOs and CNIOs, and is for my work with the chartered institute for IT, BCS and Federation of Informatics Professionals driving our profession forward. Nothing will change the NHS in the way technology will in the next few years. We need a professional workforce who can deliver this future. SCW is one of the organisations leading this effort."
Michael van Hemert, Managing Director, SCW praised Andy for his achievement, commenting: "I am really delighted that Andy has won this award, it’s an award that “recognises the individual who has gone above and beyond their role and been a great influence in shaping and developing informatics as a profession within the NHS”.
"It is a compliment to Andy that he is such an obvious choice for this type of recognition, his passion for reshaping healthcare by developing system digital capability and interoperability is obvious to everyone that meets him. Andy also recognises the real importance of what we do, the impact we have through optimising technology on the lives of the populations and communities we serve, it’s that value based approach which inspires him and it’s that value based approach that we share across SCW."
Well done Andy!
