Finalists in the NHS Communicate Award for diversity and inclusion

Frimley Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and South Central and West (SCW) are celebrating being finalists in the brand new NHS Communicate Awards. The 'Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in Communication' award recognises a partnership that is demonstrably championing diversity, inclusivity, and equality.

SCW scoops shared success at HSJ Value Awards

Oxfordshire CCG (OCCG), Oxford University Hospitals FT (OUH), Oxford Health FT, and SCW are celebrating our shared success in the Diabetes Care Initiative of the Year category at the HSJ Value Awards. The award was in recognition of the development of the diabetes dashboard, an initiative that uses data to improve the care of people with diabetes across Oxfordshire.

SCW instrumental in the new blood pressure checks for over 40s initiative

From October 2021 everyone over the age of 40 will be able to get a free blood pressure check at their local pharmacy. This comes as the result of a successful pilot programme to test case-finding for hypertension in community pharmacies.

National strategies for transformation in suicide prevention

Friday 10 September 2021 marks World Suicide Prevention Day. This yearly campaign aims to raise awareness of suicide around the world.

Did you know...? Around 800,000 people die worldwide by suicide every year, that’s 1 person every 40 seconds. For each suicide, there are more than 20 suicide attempts (WHO). Men aged 45-49 and women aged 50-54 had the highest suicide rates in England and Wales in 2019. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15-29-year-olds (Samaritans).

SCW IT service desk achieves 'Proactive' Service Desk Institute accreditation

Over the past year, the SCW IT service desk has been working towards the industry-standard Service Desk Institute (SDI) accreditation. In August the team were proud to achieve an excellent score and graded as 'Proactive'.

If physical activity were a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure

The COVID-19 pandemic saw many changes to people’s lifestyles. Some were able to increase their physical activity levels. For many, however, a decrease was the reality. The Moving Healthcare Professionals Programme seeks to build confidence and encourage people to move more each day, and build physical activity into their daily routines.
