Eight Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Surrey and Sussex have awarded a contract to South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) to supply a range of commissioning support services. The contract, which is due to go live on 1 November, is for three years with an option to extend to a further two. Services procured are Business Intelligence, Contracting, Corporate Services (Information Governance, Freedom of Information Requests, Complaints, Health and Safety and Human Resources) and Financial Services.

The eight CCGs currently receive these services from both South East CSU and SCW through individual arrangements. For this new approach, the CCGs collaborated together to run a single procurement process through the Lead Provider Framework (the NHS and public sector process launched last year for the procurement of accredited commissioning support organisations). This is one of the largest end-to-end contracts to be awarded so far through the Lead Provider Framework. Other accredited commissioning support organisations on the Framework include four other NHS commissioning support units, Capita, Optum and eMBED Health Consortium.

Keith Douglas, retiring Managing Director of SCW, said:

“We are delighted that we have won such a significant contract with this group of CCGs.  Over the past three years we have worked closely with a number of colleagues within these organisations and are pleased that we can build on those relationships and deliver even more services for them. We see our role as helping our customers to achieve the outcomes they want for their patients and populations.  Our expanded reach across the south of England means that we can provide our customers with cost effective and at scale solutions, while never forgetting the importance of local relationships and local knowledge.”
