Managing your data safely and securely - the Data Management and Architecture (DMA) department is responsible for securely managing, processing, analysing, and reporting data from care providers.
The department has four teams;
• Data Management and Processing - responsible for processing and managing all categories of data, from all sources.
DMA processes data flows from NHS Secondary care providers. This includes all national datasets available from NHS Digital, and over 5000 separate local data flows. Data is stored either in our secure Microsoft SQL Data Warehouse or using Cloud-based technology offering flexibility for different needs.
We cleanse and pseudonymise sensitive patient identifiable data included within the data processed to remove it before reporting. We also offer the first automated platform to re-identify the data where needed.
Our specialist Information Governance resources are seconded to NHS Digital to explore how new ideas for providing data enable and support data sharing across systems and regions.
• Data Architecture
Technical developers design, create and maintain all data solutions, linking of datasets and technical standards for NHS Digital, SCW, and partner systems.
• Enterprise Architecture (EA)
The EA team oversees all database operations within SCW. It ensures IT services enable users to access their data and services from any location, on any device, at any time, securely, efficiently, and appropriately in a cost-effective manner. It develops future strategy to ensure we continue to provide resilient and secure, fit for purpose, enterprise reporting.
• Application and Web Development
The team design, create and maintain all API based data solutions from directly developing applications and websites to using content management systems. It also develops our Artificial Intelligence solutions.
