Looking for your next role after the military? We can help. SCW understands the value that employing armed forces workers can bring, for both an organisation and the individual.
Service leavers and veterans bring a wealth of transferrable skills, experience and knowledge to the NHS and the close values and principles shared between the armed forces and the NHS can make the NHS a great option for those looking for new career pathways.
SCW is passionate about supporting service leavers and veterans to find work with us.
We have an established Armed Forces Working Group, made up of armed forces ambassadors, including service leavers, veterans, reservists and forces family members, who are helping to develop guidance and initiatives that support armed forces workers to come and work in SCW. This includes the development of a dedicated section of our HR website portal, used to support managers so that they better understand how to recruit, support and develop armed forces workers. A peer support group for service leavers and veterans new to SCW is also under development.
In 2017 SCW pledged to support the Step Into Health programme. This initiative was developed by The Royal Foundation along with Walking with the Wounded and NHS Employers. We re-signed the pledge in June 2022.
SCW has also signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This reflects our commitment to a wider armed forces agenda, both representing a promise that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. We also hold the Defence Employers Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
